Prince and The New Power Generation's "Diamonds and Pearls Super Deluxe Edition" is an extensive compilation that honors the enduring significance of this legendary record. This version includes 33 studio tracks from Prince's renowned Vault and 75 audio tracks totaling 7 CDs, 47 of which have never been released before. A disk of remastered B-sides and remixes, three vault CDs, the complete live audio performance from the January 11, 1992 gig at Glam Slam in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and a Blu-Ray release of that same show are all included in the bundle.
Notably, the album includes intriguing material like "Letter 4 Miles," a jazz composition in response to the passing of Prince's friend and partner Miles Davis, and an extended version of "Thunder," which was utilized for a ballet.
The Story of Diamonds and Pearls
A podcast called "The Story of Diamonds and Pearls," hosted by Minneapolis music writer Andrea Swensson, features stories from various collaborators about the development of the album and is included in the super deluxe edition. Three further episodes were released each week after the first one, which was made available on October 12, 2023.
